Quick and Easy Summer Makeup ft Revlon & Almay

In my last post I mentioned that I've been busy and exhausted (and whiny) so I've been relying on a really quick and easy makeup routine. Let's all ignore the fact that summer is coming to an end while we watch this summer makeup video. Sound good? Great!

Here are the products (c/o Revlon & Almay)  that I used in this video
Revlon Photoready BB Cream (010 light)
Revlon Colorstay Concealer (03 light medium)
Almay Smart Shade powder bronzer (40 sunkissed)
Almay Intense i-color powder shadow (412 trio for blues)
Revlon Lash Potion by Grow Luscious (blackest black)
Almay Liquid Lip Balm (500 pink)

Let me know your thoughts on this video and I'll keep trying to make them more often! If you have any vlog suggestions leave them in a comment below

Clarisonic Mia 2 - Final thoughts

A short recap of my experience with the Clarisonic Mia 2. I hope this helps out any of you that were on the fence about buying it.

For those of you that really had no interest in hearing this much about the Mia 2... well... it's probably not healthy to dwell on things you can't change. Happy Wednesday!

mia 2 update - week 2

*all views expressed during product reviews are my own and are not influenced by sponsors*

And for those of you who aren't interested in watching my vlogs

I have always been pretty basic with my skin care routine. I kept my skin clean, moisturized and that was all I really needed. This last year I noticed my skin changing and I was not a happy girl. I was okay with turning 30 but I am not okay with dull looking skin that never seems to feel clean. I also didn’t realize I would suddenly suffer from adult acne, which by the way is infuriatingly difficult to get rid of. The more I cleanse the worse it gets. I was looking forward to trying the Clarisonic Mia 2 because I was feeling really lost in the world of skin care. The routine that I’ve developed over the last two weeks is to use it at night (I’ll probably start using it in the morning as well soon) after I’ve removed my makeup. I’m using a dime sized amount of the cleansing gel (I was a little too gel happy the first few times and probably wasted a bit of it) and I prefer to use it on the ‘normal’ setting. In the first week of using it I noticed the skin around my chin looked cleaner which had been a huge concern of mine. After using it for two weeks I am finding my skin tone has evened out a bit (something I hadn’t even realized was an issue), and my complexion is a little brighter.  I’d say I’ve had a successful two weeks with the mia 2 so far!

A Video of My Face

Have you been losing sleep at night because you've been wondering what my favourite makeup products are? Well don't you worry, this perfectly lit, wonderfully edited video of amazing quality** will answer that question for you.

**Disclaimer. It's horribly lit, pathetically edited and it's of iphone quality. BUT, It's not meant to be a makeup tutorial so who needs to actually see my face? right?

Wavy Hair Tutorial Video

Yah yah yah I'm super awkward on video. I think we all need to move past that. I'm sure there are some people who can make a perfectly not awkward hair tutorial in one take but I am not that girl.

Try not to judge the quality of the video as well. My poor little point and shoot did the best it could.

The Curling Iron I am using in the video is the Jose Eber TriBarrel. This adorable hot pink curling Iron has the same wand that I used as well if you're not in the market for a TriBarrel iron.

PS, you can receive 15% off the entire Jose Eber Website with the coupon code MELISSA15!!

If you have any questions email me at melissa@miss-melissa.com.

Hair Tutorial

I've had some requests from you lovely readers about doing a tutorial about how I get my hair wavy. Soooo, even though I can't stand seeing myself on video, I put this little beauty together.

So enjoy!

Video Summary:

I start by blow drying my hair straight. It keeps my hair from being frizzy (my natural wave is a big ol' frizzy mess).

You can use any size curling iron.

I grab a section of hair - the larger the section the looser the curl, the smaller the section the tighter the curl.

I turn the curling iron upside down, place it behind the hair and wrap the hair around the curling iron away from my face.

I just continue this over and over until all my hair is curly.

When you remove the hair from the iron you can hold in into your head until it cools or let the hair fall. Again, this will just result in tighter or looser curls.

If your hair is hard to curl you have a second option. You still hold the curling iron upside down but you will open the curling iron, put your hair inside the clamp and closing it. It'll allow heat to get to the outside of the hair and will end up in a curly result.

Run your fingers through your hair once it's all curled and you're good to go!

I don't use any products in my hair but you can play around and figure out what you like.

In Conclusion: I have been doing my hair this way for five years and I have no idea how to explain the process so if you have any questions email me at melk912@gmail.com.
