Is
it smokey eye or smoky eye? I spent way too long trying to figure it
out and while I technically think my google search results confirmed it's
smoky, all of the youtube beauty gurus I watch say smokey so who am I to
argue?
I'm not sure everyone will consider this look a smokey eye but it's as smokey as I get these days. I can't say I've ever smoked up my eyeshadow to the level that a lot of youtubers do, (I lack the patience and ability to blend blend blend) but I love how quickly adding some darker shadow to your eyes can make you feel put together. I love to use bronzy colours but I've also played with dark purples.

I'm definitely not an expert at applying shadow (and I may or may not use my fingers instead of brushes) so I'm not sure doing a full on tutorial would make much sense but I do have a few little preferences I have when doing a smokey eye. I
personally like to keep 99% of the darker shadow on my lid. I know that a lot of the
tutorials I watch bring the colour up a lot higher or they create a cat eye
like effect by fanning the shadow out to the sides but that's not for me. I
think it might have something to do with my eye shape and lid shape but I just
love blending some bronzy colours on my lid and calling it a day. I also don't
like bringing the darker shadow under my eyes. This is also something I see in
a lot of tutorials and while it often looks gorgeous on the beauty guru, I
don't love that look on me. I also like to make sure I put a really light
shadow colour under my eye brow to keep the look from feeling to heavy. If
you've strayed away from a smoky eye because you're finding the tutorials
you're watching end up with your eye looking really heavy and overdone on you when you try recreating the look, maybe try playing around with where on your eye you place the shadow.
Everyone is different and this is what I've found works for me!
I'm not sure if this is considered a smokey
eye but it's my version of one and I'm sticking to it!
Products I'm wearing for this look
Eyeliner and eyeshadows are all from this palette
Tarte Amazonian Clay Eyeshadows in the colours Tempt, Artisan & Bizaar
I'll assume you all know who my cousin Alicia is because, well, she's Alicia and she's amazing. She also created a beautiful bronzed eye look for the holidays and in typical Alicia fashion, it's beautiful. If you're interested in seeing the products she used head over to her blog!
