a little goes a long way

{Wearing: Zara Jacket, Love Dress (c/o), Zara Pumps & Marc by Marc Jacobs Bag}

My budget conscious friends/readers will often ask me how they can add variety to their wardrobe without having to spend too much money. My answer to that question is usually to invest in a blazer or short jacket. You can decide how classic you'd like to go (black or white blazer) or how much visual interest you'd like to add to an outfit (this patterned jacket). Adding a layering piece like a blazer or short jacket can make you feel like you're creating so many new outfits out of the clothing you already have and it's definitely something I've been doing more now that I am really trying to watch my pennies.

  2. Great dress, the hem on the bottom really adds to it. I only own a couple of blazers and thy are standard black and grey! It's probably time to branch out :)

  8. My budget friendly friends also ask the same questions - and I usually tell them that I try to invest in quality pieces that I will wear over and over again, which, like you, are mostly blazers, and comfortable stylish shoes. Thanks for sharing your thoughts on your shopping philosophy - I wholeheartedly agree!

    Loving that Zara blazer by the way - saw it on the website and fell in love. I giggle at the name though - "fantasy fabric"? Sounds like it should be made of unicorn hair!

    I also Love that Love dress! I purchased a dress from them not too long ago, and was very happy with the quality.

    Okay, longest comment ever, sorry! Cheers!

  9. I totally agree with you Melissa. I think blazers are such a classic and can be worn with anything. I esp love tweed (like yours!). It has such a sophisticated feel to it. Lovely look Melissa. xo
