Butterflies & Stripes

Outfit Details:
Blazer & Bag - H&M
Blouse - Zara
Shorts & Shoes - UO

While I could talk for hours and hours about the disturbing series of events that occurred in Vancouver last night, I won't. I don't want to give anymore attention to the pathetic excuses for human beings involved in the destruction. I do however want to say thank you to all of the police and citizens who put themselves in danger last night trying to stop the madness, as well as the amazing volunteers who have spent today trying to clean our city up.

Now onto far less serious fashion related chatter. I've been loving all of the mixing of prints that have been going on in the fashion world but I feel like my closet is such a bizarre mix of prints so I haven't felt inspired to pair any of them together. When I reviewed the random pieces of my wardrobe that I have at Mike's place, this butterfly blouse and stripped blazer stood out to me. Paired with shorts it turned out to be a really fun outfit to wear on a sunny day when I really needed a mood booster.

The delicious cookie that the lovely people at Earl's Yaletown gave me after my lunch today also helped lift my spirits. While a chocolate chip cookie can't make up for the serious events that have taken place, it sure did take my mind off of it for a few minutes!

  1. yes... what happened last night was absolutely horrific. im glad there are still sane citizens/police/volunteers in our city who will help fix the mess.

  4. Hi! New commenter here! I love this mix of patterns, I've always been apprehensive about it myself but I love it on other people. Like you, I think my problem is that I don't have the right patterns in my closet to do it. Hmmm... another item just added to my "Clothes I Must Have" list. :)

  5. I dunno...I'm inclined to believe a chocolate chip cookie can solve a multitude of problems. ;)

I think this might be one of my favorite examples of pattern mixing! You look fantastic. I really adore those shoes, too!

  12. Cookies cure all. I believe that wholeheartedly. Which is why I'm chomping down on one right now in order to help dull the pain of not owning that blouse. Or living near Zara so I can get one for myself. Booohoohoo, more cookies please!

  14. Fashion-related chatter is much more fun than talking about what happened on Wednesday night. I'm still a bit shy about mixing prints myself, but I think butterflys and stripes is a great place to start :)
