The Go-To

 Blazer: Zara
Blouse: Vintage
Bow: Vintage - The Vintage Valley
Jeans: Old Navy
Shoes: Forever21

Does anyone else have a super crazy busy stressful week of death ahead? No? Just me?

Lack of brain power gives me two options when getting dressed: Wearing pj's all day or reaching for the go-to outfit. And (as I've mentioned before) since a certain boyfriend of mine gives me dirty looks when I try to wear pj's out of the house, I've opted for the go-to outfit.

I think every girl has a go-to outfit. That outfit that she just knows she'll feel great in no matter what and that involves very little thinking to put together because she's worn so many variations of it over time.

While the girly part of me would love me to say that my go-to is a frilly dress/tights combo, I know that's not the truth. Deep down I'm a jeans and t-shirt kind of girly girl.

As a result, my go-to outfit is jeans and a blazer with whatever blouse and shoes I feel like mixing in.

This blouse? Vintage. It was love at first sight.

The best part of my go-to outfit is that it plays into my brooch addiction very nicely. If this vintage bow brooch doesn't say girly girl I don't know what does!

Anyone else share my love for the blazer and jeans combo? Any ideas on how to mix it up and keep it interesting?

What's your go-to outfit?

  2. Ooh good question. Mine's jeans and a tee or blouse like yours (love the print on that blouse btw).

  3. One thing you can try is a monochromatic look. I have been rocking an all-navy look lately that I love. Navy blazer, navy blouse and dark skinny jeans. It's a fresh alternative to an all-black look.

Another fun way to play with the blazer-blouse-jeans combo is to mix patterns on top. Wear a patterned blazer (stripes for instance) with a patterned top (florals - to keep the girly vibe).

    Good luck and have fun!!

  5. My go to outfit is pretty similar. Boyfriend jeans, great blouse, blazer. Wait... it's almost exactly the same. It's just a great outfit to look put together but super comfy.

  7. I love the jeans and blazer combo but I don't like how jeans look on me very much, so my go-to is a dress and a belt. Always.

That blouse is gorgeous on you and I love the bow brooch!

  8. It was just delightful to see you last night Melissa, so excited about upcoming collabs. And you know how I feel about your amazing vintage blouse. I feel good about it.

  9. Aaaaadorable! Love your go-to look! So cute, and so perfectly you. To keep it interesting, I would just mix up accessories... layers of necklaces or bangles, throwing on a scarf, etc! But your little bow brooch is adorable (I actually just had one arrive in my mailbox this week! Can't wait to wear!) and I like the simplicity of this look! My go-to look would either be a comfy dress (elastic waist & free flowing hips, preferably) and tights, or leggings and an oversized sweater. That's my general weekend wear!

  11. I ADORE this blouse! It looks fantastic on you. And the brooch with it is perfect. I need to start wearing my vintage brooches. They are just so perfect with blazers.
I think my go to outfit would have to be jeans or leggings with a big chunky sweater and boots. I definitely gravitate towards blazers as well. If I'm really honest with my self though it is a lot of times Lululemon outfits!

  14. This is an adorable go to outfit! And that blouse is so pretty, it looks like you've been having a lot of luck with vintage finds lately! Lucky you! I love the brooch with it too.

  15. Great scores on the vintage blouse & brooch! Your style is always pretty and effortless.

I too would love to say that my go to outfit is dress&tights but realistically when I'm lazy, or just need to get out of my house quickly, my go to is either blazer/jeans with a scarf or cardigan/jeans and scarf. Living in Canada (for me anyway) makes it almost impossible to wear dresses year round (I would love to though).

  16. Absolutely love the colors in that shirt and I love even more that it's vintage. I think I've already mentioned that your bf would hate me, I love pjs so much. I would say my go to outfit is jeans, flips and a cute casual t-shirt with long thin cardigan over it. It's texas, we wear flip-flops everywhere.

  18. Love the bow brooch and your go to outfit looks so polished! Mine has to be a skirt with a blouse and a cardigan. Boring but lucky for me I've collected so many skirts and blouses that I can come up with infinite combinations!

    have a lovely day!

P.S. Ummm your Chanel purse?! Is there a story behind it? I don't think I've seen you wear it before!
