Haaaave you met

Monkeyface, from Hello Monkeyface?

I love cartoon monkeys and I love to laugh. I also love a gal with great style. Luckily for me (and now for you), Hello, Monkeyface is all of those things! MF (Monkeyface and I are on an initials basis now) has quite the fan base so I'm sure most of you have already said Hello, but just in case you haven't I wanted to help you get to know her a little better.

She's just such a doll that aside from not knowing her name or what she looks like, you feel like you are one of her good friends sitting down with her for tea and some chatting! And who doesn't want to have tea with a stylish cartoon monkey?

1) Who (or what) is your greatest source of style inspiration?

MF: ME. Didn't see that coming, did ya?  ;)  What can I say, I like what I like and don't pay much attention to what's going on in the fashion world.  But I am definitely obsessed with style blogs and get a ton of inspiration for layering, accessorizing, etc. from what real people with real budgets show off on their blogs.  But mostly it's all about me.  ;)

2) Which blogs are on your "must check every day" list right now?

MF: Oh man, there are a TON.  I have a serious internet stalking problem.  I'm going to give some shoutouts to super hot and hilarious bloggers who maybe not everyone has had a chance to get to know yet: Cydney from A Silly Little Blog,  Sorren from Classic Noise, and Ana of From Suns to Moons all have great wardrobes and way fun-to-read writing styles.  Just like you, Melissa (girl you know it's true).

3) I haven't been able to find any other half human/half monkey style bloggers. Are you ever lonely?

MF: Melissa are you a psychiatrist?  A psychic?  How else did you see into my soul just now?  Yes I am lonely!  But you know what, all you human bloggers with human faces have been so incredibly supportive that I'm dealing.  To be honest, my blog is not for everyone.  It weirds some people out.  So when really awesome people actually get a kick out of me and my blog for the half human/half monkeyness that it is, it's really special.  :)

Isn't she lovely?

The Jean Jacket debate

Jean Jacket: Jacob
Dress: The Vintage Valley
Shoes: Aldo
Bag: Spotted Moth
Necklace: F21

There are a couple exciting things going on in these pictures. First, I'm not wearing any tights for the FIRST time this year! YAY! Second, I am wearing my jean jacket. I'm a jean jacket fan so this might not be exciting for you but I'm pretty happy about it.

Now for some apologies. First, I'm sorry that my legs are blindingly white. They've been hibernating. Second, I'm sorry for the bruises on my leg. Apparently I'm mean to my legs during the seasons they are hidden under jeans. Mike gets upset with me because I aways have new bruises and he thinks people are going to start worrying about me. I tell him that anyone who knows me knows I'm as clumsy as clumsy gets. I tend to run into things... mostly I run into the corner of my glass coffee table. That thing marks up my shins like nothing else.

Okay, now that the formalities are out of the way, let's go back to talking about jean jackets.

I don't necessarily love the one I'm wearing (it was bought on sale out of panic at the end of last summer after my old one was accidentally washed and lost it's shape) but jean jackets are a staple of mine in spring and summer. I have already started looking for a new one to replace this one.

I have found that people either love or hate jean jackets. I've had a few people give me the "really? a jean jacket?" eye roll but i've also gotten some high fives (okay that's a lie... but I kind of wish people would high five me for wearing a jean jacket).

Are you a fan? or should I expect anonymous "STOP WEARING A JEAN JACKET" comments from you this summer when I wear mine to death?

Okay the polls are open.
Jean Jackets: Yay? or Nay?

Spring has Sprung

Blouse: Barefoot Contessa
Pants: Zara
Shoes: Aldo (Gift from Chantelle)
Necklace: Vintage

Look ma! No coat!

Spring has sprung which means coats are being replaced with allergy medicine and I'll actually have to shave my legs before I wear skirts (oh how I love tights ;))

It also means that it's time to move the winter clothes to the back of the closet and bring out the spring and summer pieces. This is my favourite thing to do ever. I'm giddy just thinking about it!!

I know some people like styling clothes in fall and winter clothes because they can layer but I think I'm a spring and summer girl. Actually, now that I think about it... I probably only think I like summer clothes because I love summer activities so much. I love going for walks and being outside without freezing my butt off. Regardless, I'm excited for the spring and summer wardrobe I've slowly been compiling. It's mostly vintage and I'm in love with every single piece.

So how about you? Do you have a season you prefer to style outfits in? Are you sad to see winter go or are you like me and so excited for sun that you're ready to throw your winter coat in the nearest fire place?
