The Go-To

 Blazer: Zara
Blouse: Vintage
Bow: Vintage - The Vintage Valley
Jeans: Old Navy
Shoes: Forever21

Does anyone else have a super crazy busy stressful week of death ahead? No? Just me?

Lack of brain power gives me two options when getting dressed: Wearing pj's all day or reaching for the go-to outfit. And (as I've mentioned before) since a certain boyfriend of mine gives me dirty looks when I try to wear pj's out of the house, I've opted for the go-to outfit.

I think every girl has a go-to outfit. That outfit that she just knows she'll feel great in no matter what and that involves very little thinking to put together because she's worn so many variations of it over time.

While the girly part of me would love me to say that my go-to is a frilly dress/tights combo, I know that's not the truth. Deep down I'm a jeans and t-shirt kind of girly girl.

As a result, my go-to outfit is jeans and a blazer with whatever blouse and shoes I feel like mixing in.

This blouse? Vintage. It was love at first sight.

The best part of my go-to outfit is that it plays into my brooch addiction very nicely. If this vintage bow brooch doesn't say girly girl I don't know what does!

Anyone else share my love for the blazer and jeans combo? Any ideas on how to mix it up and keep it interesting?

What's your go-to outfit?

80's Baby

(yes, it's snowing and I'm not wearing a coat. the things I do for this blog)
 Dress: Vintage (the Vintage Valley)
Coat & Tights: RW&Co
Booties: Urban Outfitters

Thank you to those of you who let me know your thoughts on my style blog/outfit talk dilemma! For those of you who didn't comment? You're all grounded.

This weekend I got to celebrate one of my dearest friends 29th birthday. Her birthday is early in the year so it's always a reminder that my birthday is on the way (and a reminder of the age I'll be turning. eek!). I'm one of the rare women who doesn't panic at the thought of getting older but as I get closer to 30, I wonder if I'll be changing my tune when I officially leave my "20's".

I thought it would only be appropriate to wear this vintage 80's dress to the birthday celebration of an 80's baby.

If only I had accessorized with a Jem and the Holograms lunch box. Why do I always think of these things after?

Weekend Weather Woes

Blazer: ModCloth
T-shift: Gap
Jeans: Old Navy
Flats: Aldo
Toque: F21
Scarf: Vintage
Gloves: The Bay
Bag: Urban Outfitters
Boots that I ultimately had to change into because the rain was destroying my feet: Sterling.

It's official, I'm a weather jinx. Last weekend when I had the weekend off from work (and when these pictures were taken, don't judge me) it was pouring rain. We got dressed up in our festive Canadian gear and walked around downtown to celebrate the one year anniversary of the Olympics in a mess of umbrellas and puddles. This weekend while I was stuck at work? Gorgeous and sunny. Oh how the world hates me.

Sorry if I'm a bit Debbie Downer-ish. I have a bit of a stomach bug which caught me by surprise. AND I am finding that lately any time I look at "next week" in my day planner I am overwhelmed with how busy my work week looks.

Don't worry though, I've been counter balancing my busy work weeks by being completely unproductive in my personal life. And people say blondes aren't smart.
