Q&A

I recently posted on Instagram stories that I would be doing a Q&A and asked for any A's that I could Q. I wasn't sure that I was interesting enough for a Q&A and let's be fair, I'm probably not, but since a few of you sent me some questions I'm excited to answer them!

Q: When did you start your blog? What's been the most rewarding part about having your blog?

A: I started my blog in 2006 as an online diary that only a few friends read. In 2010 I joined in on one of Kendi's 30 for 30 challenges along with my cousin Alicia and at that point the blog started to have more of a style focus. I loved being a part of a community of women who supported and inspired each other. We weren't worried about likes or algorithms. Those were the days ;) The most rewarding part of having my blog has been the friendships I've made. I love that I've been able to connect with so many people I wouldn't have had the opportunity to otherwise.

Q: Where did you get married?

A: Palm Springs! It's a favourite vacation spot for me and Kevin so it seemed like a great fit to get married there. We rented an estate and had a backyard wedding in the desert with a Taco cart for dinner and donuts and cheesecake for dessert. I posted photos from our ceremony and first look here, and photos from our reception and our wedding video here. I wouldn't change a thing about our wedding but thinking back, the morning of was rather crazy. There was a desert storm the night before so the day of the wedding we had to get up at 5am and set everything up. I told myself I could start being a bride at 10am. Haha. If you'd like me to post a more detailed post on our wedding day let me know. I love reading about weddings so I'd be happy to tell you a little more about ours.

Q: What are your favourite online stores to shop from?

A: I'd love to say Zara but I'm honestly so confused by the styling on the site now. I love that they have an app and shipping is quick but it's hard to find pieces I love on the site right now because it's hard to look past the styling. Old Navy/Gap. They always have great sales so I will often find pieces for Thomas from there. I love ASOS but I'm not a fan of the duty charges. I also haven't figured out the UK sizing.

Q: What does fashion and style look like for you now that you're a mom?

A: Right now I would define my style as practical and comfortable. Not the two most exciting words in the english language but it's true. I like classic pieces like cardigans, blazers and loafers. So yes, to answer your question, it's stressful being a style icon but someone has to do it.

Q: What is one make up item you couldn't live without?

A: Concealer. All the concealer. I'm really loving Tarte's Shape Tape right now but it's a little drying so I like applying it on top of a creamy colour corrector. It gives the best coverage I've ever found. I also have blonde eye lashes so I feel like I look super tired if I don't have at least one swipe of mascara on my lashes.
