Organizing my closet recently lead me to a realization, I am currently wearing about 5% of my wardrobe. I have a very full closet and yet I find myself rewearing the same things over and over. It started out as just slowly wearing items as they started fitting again after Thomas was born which obviously meant I could only select from a limited amount of pieces. Now I just tend to want to wear items that I'm okay with getting drool all over. Drooling while teething is no joke.
I probably rotate the same 15-20 items (shoes and outerwear included) in all of my outfits right now and I couldn't be happier. I try to add an element with some visual interest to make it feel a little more special. A pop of colour, a pattern, some lace or studs can change the entire look. I have always loved styling in the colder months because I love layers.
I decided that while I am choosing my daily outfits from a small selection of pieces, I might as well document it. I also decided that to make it more interesting I would challenge myself not to wear the exact same outfit twice. I will be completely honest and say that I will probably have drool on me at least once. Seriously, why don't I hear more about drool? Moms talk and joke about spit up all the time but all of this drool was quite the surprise. If you know of any way to make money off of baby drool please let me know, I would be a millionaire.
I will do a weekly recap of what I've worn that week and at the end of the 20 days, Christmas Eve, I will do a full monthly recap. That's also when you will see the final list of the 20 pieces I styled. I don't really want to call this a challenge because it was just inspired by my current reality but I have to give a shout out to Kendi and her 30 for 30 challenge from 2010. Participating in that challenge was my introduction into style blogging so I will always have a soft spot for it.
I am excited to get started!
