3 Types of Outfits

There are three types of outfits you will see on my blog in the winter.
Outfits #1: I wear these outfits when I'm outside for longer than 20 minutes. You will be able to spot these outfits because I am really bundled up. There will be a scarf and toque involved (if you haven't noticed, I haven't been outside for longer than 20 minutes yet. It's cold and I'm a wimp)

Outfits #2: I wear these outfits when I am outside anywhere between 2 and 20 minutes. If I know I will be parking my car and might have to walk a few minutes to my location, I wear these outfits. You will be able to spot these outfits because they are practical but not extremely warm. They usually involve a winter coat layered on top but for photos the winter coat is removed.

Outfits #3: I wear these outfits when I will be running from the car to my destination and will be outside for under a minute. You will be able to spot these outfits because you probably thought "how the heck has she not frozen her butt off!?". A skirt with no tights is a prime example of outfit #3. Taking photos of these outfits usually risks hypothermia but I do it, because I love all of you very much.

This outfit, is an outfit #2. It was warm enough (with a winter coat layered on top) for a 10 minute walk to the restaurant but there was a scarf and toque in my humongous bag that would have quickly turned it into an outfit #1 if necessary. Taking my coat off for the photos and the fact that it's a really thin blouse made it temporarily feel like an outfit #3 which made me want to dive into my bag and turn it into an outfit #1. I have this down to a science ;)

  1. Adorable look! I love you little pins you added!

  2. ah it is true, sometimes we just have to get out there and snap some shots and sometimes we can wear "real" outfits...the things we do for our blogs!
I love this outfit, that pretty striped Club Monaco top is perfect with the girly skirt and bright blazer...and of course I love your signature brooches!
    Happy Friday!

  3. I have definitely risked hypothermia for a few shots too... I love how you've got each outfit down to a science. That photo of you laughing is too cute, Melissa :)

  4. You are hilarious. But so true. I also base my outfits on how long I will be outside too. Hey. Winter's cold.

  5. Wow I love how you styled this blue blazer! The broaches add such a cute touch!

  6. Cobalt is such a pretty color on you. Have a great weekend.

  7. i love that colorful blazer with the black and white outfit.

also, you're far braver than i am - this year i've turned into a wimp and i just can't make myself go without tights!

  8. I hear you on the 3 outfits thing. Sometimes I even plan which sweater I should wear under a coat or jacket that looks nice but which I know isn't super warm.

  9. haha, your breakdown of the 3 types of outfits is quite insightful. I'm generally number 3, 1 minute or 30 minutes outside, highly unpractical. You always look amazing in blue.

  10. I love the flowy skirt on you! <3

  11. too cute! and being from the states, and the Southern part for that matter, I love that you call it a toque!

  12. Haha - I hate that it's getting so cold lately that most of my outfits are #1s! Love your blue blazer...and just wanted to let you know, I gave you a shout out on my blog today - my outfit was inspired by you...so thanks for the inspiration Melissa :)

  13. I love the brooches,they add such a vintage,feminine vibe to an outfit! :*
