My I-don't-think-I'm-a-model Poses

{Wearing: Gap Blazer, American Apparel Top, J Brand Jeans, Banana Republic Pumps, Modcloth Scarf, Marc by Marc Jacobs Bag}
Photos taken by Cara

You can tell when I am in a public place taking photos because I whip out my three "I don't think I'm a model" poses. People passing by don't always bother me, but when they do, these poses help me feel less like a wannabe model in their judgmental eyes.

Pose #1 says: I don't think I'm a model. I'm just standing in front of my favourite gate and I want a photo of it

Pose #2 says: I am just going to adjust my purse here and oh shoot, my friend accidentally took a photo of it. darn.

Pose #3 says: I think I have something on the back of my shoe here... let me just check before we go... oh no, another accidental photo... that's too bad.

I don't even mean to whip out those poses... It's my survival instinct.

Pssst! You only have until tomorrow at 5pm to enter my Barefoot Contessa Giveaway!!

  3. ahahaha, ahh, you always make me have a good laugh. It is annoying when people stare when we are trying to take pictures...or offer to help us out! As nice as it is of them to do, it can make things...awkward.
These photos tured out wonderfully though, I am so in love with those nude banana republic heels and that Marc Jacobs bag!

  4. hahah you are totally cracking me up right now. Also, we might just be brain twins because those are some of my favourite go-tos. Another great one is: "Oh a text for me? I am so obviously engrossed in this. Silly person, why are you even taking photos of me, I clearly have more important things to read on my phone"

    Those nude pumps are awesome.
I am jealous of your BC weather. Seriously. I should just move there.

  10. Lol you are too cute! But its true those 'poses' are a must when shooting in public... It's like why does my friend keep taking so many darn pictures of me... sheesh :*)
I just get a kick out of what the passers by are overhearing Bronwyn and I saying to eachother, I can only imagine!

  11. haha so true - I hate that awkward feeling of trying to take pics out in public. It's good that as bloggers we can all just laugh at it.

J brand - aren't they just the best?

  12. Haha I know the feeling! I've been taking photos in my friend's building because it's so cold outside...but people are often walking by or in the gym (which has a big window to the lobby) and it's aaaaaaawkward. I love your 3 poses though-I may have to steal them for myself!

  16. I totally know what you mean! I've perfected the "looking down" model look while in public...just pretend there is something on my feet I need to inspect! haha

ps. that scarf color is AMAZING and I love it paired with a peachy pink.

you have such classic style, I love it!

  20. Haha, it's so awkward when people catching you taking photos of yourself...especially if you have the camera on a timer and holding a pose! I picked what I thought was an obscure location to take outfits photos yesterday, but this girl came out to her car which was right next to me and sat in there forever on her phone. I had to give up on waiting for her to leave and just keep taking my photos. I find it a little less unnerving if I have someone there taking my photos- it's quicker and at least I'm not all alone with a tripod!
