What did you do today?

I met Isabel.

She's a teeny tiny ball of cute. Her mommy is one of my best friends and I can't wait to spoil this little sleeping angel with adorable dresses.

Goldilocks

Blazer & Brooch: The Vintage Valley
Tank: Gap
Jeans: True Value Vintage
Shoes: Urban Outfitters
Purse: Spotted Moth

Here is my lazy tip of the day. Want to make a jeans and tank combo look special without putting any effort into it? Throw on some gold. In this case I chose a vintage black and gold blazer (and my gold bow brooch). Easy peasy and it looks like I tried when I really didn't! How amazing is that? You are welcome.

Now, for the real reason for the Goldilocks title of my post. While I am a natural blonde, I do get highlights (I'm only a partial fraud). At this point, as you can see in these photos, I have a good 2 inches of roots going on. They drive me CRAAAZZYYY. Seriously bonkers. Normally at this point (or a month ago) I would have raced to the salon and thrown some bleach on those roots but I'm kind of getting tired of paying sooo much mooooney on my hair. I don't even want to think of how much money I've spent over the years on highlights. eek.

At the rate my hair grows it'll take 15 years to grow my hair out so I don't know if I'll have the patience... AND I legitimately have no idea what colour it will turn out to be. I'm assuming dirty blonde? That's the colour of these roots at least. I'm going to attempt a grow out and if it drives me crazy enough I'll either add a couple highlights (dear hair dresser, how many highlights can you give me for $20?) or I'll dye it brown.

Okay phew, I feel better now that I've talked about this. You may call rambling on about blonde highlights shallow but I call it necessary. Unless you've paid a salon bill for a head full of bleach highlight foils you don't understand the financial investment I'm talking about here ;)

My other tip of the day? Vintage shopping with your fashionable cousin is the perfect way to spend a Saturday morning. Especially when she finds you the perfect item to buy! If you follow me on twitter you might know about my purchase on Saturday, but if not... well that's your fault for not following me on twitter and  now you'll NEVER* know what I bought!!

(*when I say never, I mean you'll know as soon as I post pictures... which will be soon ;))

Haaaave you met

Monkeyface, from Hello Monkeyface?

I love cartoon monkeys and I love to laugh. I also love a gal with great style. Luckily for me (and now for you), Hello, Monkeyface is all of those things! MF (Monkeyface and I are on an initials basis now) has quite the fan base so I'm sure most of you have already said Hello, but just in case you haven't I wanted to help you get to know her a little better.

She's just such a doll that aside from not knowing her name or what she looks like, you feel like you are one of her good friends sitting down with her for tea and some chatting! And who doesn't want to have tea with a stylish cartoon monkey?

1) Who (or what) is your greatest source of style inspiration?

MF: ME. Didn't see that coming, did ya?  ;)  What can I say, I like what I like and don't pay much attention to what's going on in the fashion world.  But I am definitely obsessed with style blogs and get a ton of inspiration for layering, accessorizing, etc. from what real people with real budgets show off on their blogs.  But mostly it's all about me.  ;)

2) Which blogs are on your "must check every day" list right now?

MF: Oh man, there are a TON.  I have a serious internet stalking problem.  I'm going to give some shoutouts to super hot and hilarious bloggers who maybe not everyone has had a chance to get to know yet: Cydney from A Silly Little Blog,  Sorren from Classic Noise, and Ana of From Suns to Moons all have great wardrobes and way fun-to-read writing styles.  Just like you, Melissa (girl you know it's true).

3) I haven't been able to find any other half human/half monkey style bloggers. Are you ever lonely?

MF: Melissa are you a psychiatrist?  A psychic?  How else did you see into my soul just now?  Yes I am lonely!  But you know what, all you human bloggers with human faces have been so incredibly supportive that I'm dealing.  To be honest, my blog is not for everyone.  It weirds some people out.  So when really awesome people actually get a kick out of me and my blog for the half human/half monkeyness that it is, it's really special.  :)

Isn't she lovely?
