not looking forward to 31

 Wearing:
Zara Top. (old, oh so very old)
Zara Skirt
Aldo Pumps
Plum Bag

My  birthday is in less than a week and I am currently going through my usual "I'm getting older and I need to suddenly clean out my closet and organize my life like a grown up" phase. I've made more trips to Ikea in the past few weeks than I'd like to admit. I had absolutely no problem turning 30, in fact I welcomed it, but 31 is rubbing me the wrong way. I'm sure I won't really care once the day comes but I'd be more than happy staying 30 for a little longer. Or at least until I can actually organize my closet properly for once in my life.

  1. Turning 30 surprisingly bothered me a lot. I didn't think it would but it has made all the subsequent post-30 birthdays a bit easier to bear. And I absolutely love every single thing about this look. That skirt is stunning.

    1. I feel like turning 30 bothered everyone I know haha. I was okay with it for some reason though. I'm not really upset about turning 31, I'm just not at all excited for it. Maybe if I freak out this year it'll make the next handful of years seem better ;)

    1. I still feel younger too. Maybe that's why saying 31 feels so weird? I wish you luck on your 30th! If you need any support you know who to contact ;)

  3. Hey fellow virgo :) My birthday is a little less than 2 weeks away. I'm a baby soon to be 24, I definitely appreciate where I am now but I've heard from girlfriends in their late 20's and in their 30's that you just gain a certain comfortability and confidence in who you are that I am looking forward to, but not so much that I'm in a hurry to get there lol there is just such a social stigma attached to women again even if you think you're totally ok with it... you still have a nagging voice in your head trying to convince you that you're past your prime.

Savor these birthdays, 30 is the new 20 and I'm sure scientists will develop a "benjamin button" anti-aging cream soon :)

    1. I think you hit on something there about the "past your prime" thing. Maybe that's what's nagging me? I'm not upset about it but there is something bugging me that I can't quite put my finger on haha.

And happy early birthday m'dear! 24 will be an amazing year for you, I can just tell xo

    1. Remember when birthdays used to be fun? Maybe I should make myself a goodie bag, goodie bags always softened the blow. (and thank you xo)

  9. Lovely look! I would not have guessed you are about to turn 31 (you look much younger!)
I will be 30 in less than a month but I'm trying to avoid too much emphasis on the number. Like one of the commenters above, I feel much younger. It was interesting to hear I am not the only one that feels younger than they actually are :)

    1. I also feel younger than I am so I'm wondering if that's why I don't like seeing the number go up haha.

Thanks for your kind words and good luck on your 30th ;)

  10. Love that skirt! I've been looking for a trench. Where did you get yours?

I 100% feel you. I'm only a few years younger but I understand completely. I asked my friend this summer "I'm 28... are these shorts too short for my age?" Honestly, dress the age you feel. :) Just keep it classy. Haha!

    1. I don't usually have a problem with enjoying the clothing that is appropriate for my age (thank goodness).

My trench is from Joe Fresh (I have a different one from the Gap as well)

  11. Love the outfit! That skirt is super cute. Ahh getting older is never really fun, is it? Birthdays are great, but I'm never really excited about what they represent. I'm good staying 23 for a while longer.

  13. I felt the same way - not that I dreaded turning 31, but I felt like it was such a nothing birthday. 29 is your last year in your twenties, 30 is obviously a big one, but 31...? Not exactly a life milestone. At the same time, it's still the day you were born, and that in itself is a big reason to celebrate! Doesn't matter the number, the anniversary of your existence is definitely a reason to party! Happy early birthday, girl! And LOVE this skirt! So pretty.

    1. I really can't put my finger on what's bothering me about this birthday but I don't think I'll do much celebrating. Maybe just a dinner and some drinks.

I'm oddly happy to hear you were in the same boat ;)
