I often wonder if I set my expectations for certain situations too high. Since I can't control what happens in most of those situations am I just setting myself up for disappointment and causing unneeded stress?
I logged onto facebook yesterday to see this status:
I'm only a pessimist because I have realistic expectations.
Would that mean an optimist is someone with unrealistic expectations? And does that then mean that having positive expectations is unrealistic? Or is an optimist just someone who reacts positively to a situation regardless of their expectations or of the outcome?
I don't want to walk into a situation with low expectations to prevent disappointment and I'm not even sure it's possible to not have any expectations... is it?
Or maybe its not about getting rid of expectations completely but just being positive overall. Expecting the best but accepting any outcome.
