Anyone who grew up...

watching Saved by the Bell or Full House probably has a very particular idea of 80's/early 90's fashion. I think I will have the images of floral blouses with shoulder pads and high waisted stone washed tapered jeans forever ingrained in my mind.

As a result when I first started seeing high waisted pants coming back into the fashion scene I had a really tough time keeping an open mind. That is until I put on my first pair of high waisted shorts. It was a magical moment. I can't believe that as a girl with hips, I didn't automatically jump at a style that cinches at the waist and falls away at the hips. My high waisted shorts immediately became my summer favourite.

With fall approaching I started to keep my eye out for some high waisted pants that didn't remind me of those worn by Jessie Spano. Ironic that I didn't just end up with high waisted pants, but with a pair of pleated and tapered high waisted black pants that i'm pretty sure Jessie wore on more than one occasion. And I love them... who would have thought!

Pants: American Apparel. Tank: Urban Outfitters. Belt: Jacob. Pumps: Aldo. Ring: Barefoot Contessa

These pants from American Apparel are the most comfortable pants I've ever worn. I brought such random items of clothing to Mike's place this weekend (why didn't I plan outfits while packing? why??) that I decided to pair them with my red tank, brown studded belt and simple black pumps.

The finishing touch was my new ring from Barefoot Contessa. I know i'm not huge on accessories but I really love this ring!

I spent today being lazy. Is it just me or does having a lazy day of doing absolutely nothing get more difficult with age? I felt guilty all day! Oh well, I only have a few days off holidays left, I need to push past that guilt and enjoy doing nothing before it's time to go back to work. I hope you all have a great weekend! xo
