No Shopping Struggles

Coat: RW&Co. Jeans: Old Navy. Boots: Payless. Scarf: Fine Finds. Bag: Ebay.

When I did the No Shopping for 30 days in July it was difficult but I managed. No shopping this month has been one of the hardest things I've ever had to do haha. I honestly don't know why. Maybe the lack of sunshine is causing me to want to look for other sources of happiness and shopping definitely brings me to my happy place.

The only thing I've bought that is technically breaking the rules is a pair of rain boots. I was caught out during one of the worst rain storms of fall and it was more of a 'need' situation then a 'want'. I made sure that they were inexpensive and boring so they would feel way too practical to feel like cheating. I'd compare them more to buying laundry detergent or paper towels. You could survive without them but it would make your life a little bit harder.

Today I was really tempted to cheat again. I had gone to meet Mike for lunch without anything covering my ears and they were frozen during my walk. I browsed through some boutiques looking for ear muffs but luckily I have amazing will power and I didn't buy any. Or the stores I looked in didn't have any. Whichever. ;)

I bought this coat a few months back after finding a picture of a coat by Lanvin that had a similar feminine silhouette. I fell in love with the idea of prancing around the city in a coat that was able to keep me warm and make me feel like I was wearing a dress. Because I personally think it's a lot easier to deal with the cold and snow when you feel pretty and girly... don't you think?

  1. You are way too cute!! Love your philosophy! I feel the same way...we got a ton of snow here the other day and I was left wishing I had a coat like yours. On my Christmas wish list now!

  2. I keep trying to cheat and buy something... but right before I go to the till I'd keep thinking about how it wasn't worthy of being my cheat item.
If I'm going to cheat, the item better be amazing.

But I definitely agree with the lack of sunshine making me want to shop. Plus the stores are a lot warmer than it is outside ...

  6. I'm feeling the want to buy too. I think it's mostly that there are so many sales of gorgeous items... I have only "cheated" with a need too. I went to a Monday night football game and thought it'd be warmer than it was, so I had to buy a coat.

You look so stylish as always!!

    Happy Holidays!

  7. I love that jacket. You are gorgeous, as usual.

You're also inspiring me to do some outdoor posts in my winter gear. But I might wait until it warms up to, oh, I don't know, -10ish! LOL.
